[ Shane ]

My Shane has taken literally hundreds of hours or research and prototype work to get it just right. The black, money-belt style gun rig features solid sterling silver cast conchos and buckle, painstakingly reproduced by a local silversmith just for this outfit. The Mexican loop holster is soft and flexible and features a "Texas low-cut" throat like Ladd's. Unfortunately, the original holster was secured to the belt by two large metal rivets from front to back, which can scratch your revolver. My standard rig secures the holster skirt only to the belt, but for purists I can make it like the original. The open-bottomed holster is designed for a 5 1/2" barrel Colt SAA or similar replica, although Ladd carried a 7 1/2" barrel Colt with sights removed to prevent snagging.

One of the best westerns ever made, Shane seems to perfectly define the code of the West -- honor, truth, loyalty and courage. Quiet, almost wistful, and hard as blued steel, Alan Ladd's Shane still gives me goose bumps and a lump in my throat. Wearing worn buckskins and a white hat, Shane's black gun rig, glittering with those giant oblong, cartwheel-shaped silver conchos literally jumped out at you. For movie buffs, note the switching of Shane's guns in the fast draw sequences and the distant white pickup truck in the opening scenes behind the deer's head. One of my all-time favorite films, the theme music still haunts me.
