Back in the Spring of 1997, I had an idea that I presented to Roy Rogers, Jr. and Joel Dortch of Happy Trails at the Roy Rogers/Dale Evans museum in Victorville. The result was SILVER SCREEN LEGEND I. Because of its outstanding success, and due to the generosity and kindness shown by western fans everywhere, this project has become a yearly event.
I'd personally like to thank everyone who has helped make the SILVER SCREEN LEGEND series such a success and the single largest contributor to the Happy Trails Children's Foundation, a home for severely abused and abandoned kids. This is the charity that was closest to the hearts of Roy Rogers and Dale Evens and I know they'd be very pleased.
SILVER SCREEN LEGENED VI is the most intricate and spectacular outfit yet, drawing heavily on its design from the signature gun rigs worn by Rex Allen, Sunset Carson, Wild Bill Elliott and Lash LaRue. The fully lined and border laced outfit, features beautifully engraved hand made pure sterling silver diamond and half spots and engraved buckles and tips. The two-toned fully hand carved holster and belt replicate the pattern made famous by Arizona Cowboy Rex Allen.
The genuine, original Colt Single Action Army revolver, in .45 Colt, has been completely tuned, polished and sterling silver plated, and sports delicately hand carved legal, pre-ban ivory grips, similar to those used by Gene Autry, and the special serial number H2003T for Happy Trails, 2003. Engraving includes "SILVER SCREEN LEGEND VI" and "Happy Trails." A beautiful hand carved presentation box completes the package.
A very special group of friends and craftsmen have joined with me to create this one-of-a-kind Cowboy Collectable, which is donated completely free of charge to Happy Trails. Many thanks to Conrad Anderson, Bob Leskovec, Jeff Collins, Ben Hansen, Ron Love, Graham Leggett and, of course, the wonderful people at Colt's Manufacturing Company. Without their help this annual project would not be possible. To see more of some of these artisans' work, please visit the Side Kicks and Saddle Pals section of this Web site.
